I am writing to tell you about an extraordinary event that I am participating in and to ask for your help.

On Saturday, June 21st, 2008, and/or Saturday, August 16th, 2008, I will join hundreds of others in Against the Tide, a one-mile, open-water fundraising swim, 2-mile kayak event and three-mile recreational walk to benefit Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition's work in the fight against breast cancer. Now in its sixteenth year, Against the Tide, has become a powerful and inspiring day of hope in the fight against this devastating disease.

The money raised by Against the Tide supports the MBCC's work of organizing and coordinating diverse efforts to prevent, combat and ultimately cure breast cancer, which threatens the life of one woman in seven. The MBCC will share a portion of the proceeds with Silent Spring Institute, a nonprofit research organization that conducts innovative scientific research to study associations between breast cancer and the environment.

This year, my goal is to raise $_________ . Please help me reach it by pledging me to participate in Against the Tide. Whatever the amount, your donation will go a long way towards providing hope for a healthier future for all women.
